About the Author

Dr. Hancock has written a regular weekly column entitled “All Psyched Up” for newspapers in two Canadian provinces for more than a dozen years. Over the years, her readers and clients have said that they have benefited from her common-sense solutions, wisdom, and sense of humour

 

Linda Hancock was born and raised in Indian Head, Saskatchewan.  She completed her high school education there in 1969.  For the next twenty years she worked in various administrative positions, served as a volunteer in numerous organizations and was an extremely active mother of three children.

 

In 1995 Linda completed a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Regina.  She moved to Alberta that year and, in 1997 convocated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Saskatchewan. In the spring of 2000 she received a Master of Education with a Counselling Psychology specialization from the University of Lethbridge.

 

Since moving to Alberta, Linda has been employed as a Child Welfare case manager and investigator as well as a Mental Health Consultant with the Student Health Partnership.  She is a Registered Psychologist and Social Worker, Professional Mediator as well as a Sex Addiction and Substance Abuse Expert who has taught at the post-graduate level.  Dr. Hancock has given presentations internationally and was well-received as a speaker on Celebrity Cruises.   She has also served as a consultant for media personnel.

 

Dr. Hancock has a private practice where she has seen over 8,000 clients.

 

Besides the personal time spent enjoying her seven grandchildren, Linda is a musician who derives pleasure from her creative writing projects, needlework and interacting with others.
