A few years ago, I went with a couple of friends on a trip... One day, as we walked down a Victoria street one of them said "Linda, you are always reinventing yourself! I wasn't sure that this was a compliment but, with inquiry discovered that she very much admired this.

So often I hear people complain about their lives and how everyone else is a problem. I challenge them to imagine what life would be like if they moved to another country where they didn't know one person. Of course, no one in that country would know their history - their bumps and warts! They could choose how they would live.

Well, why would you have to leave your home or country to reinvent yourself?

If you don't like your job - apply for another one. Or study in another field. We live in a world where education is at our fingertips. We can even apply for funding if we cannot afford post-secondary courses. Begin with one class and see how your perspective can change.

If you don't like your home - move. Perhaps even having a residence on the opposite side of the same street would give you more sun! Nothing is impossible. It might take time to get things lined up, but you do have options.

My cousin was raised in Regina Saskatchewan and hated the winter. It took a few years, but her mother was able to arrange dual citizenship for herself through our American grandparents. This opened up the opportunity for Maureen and her family to move to Hawaii. She doesn't have any regrets!

If you don't like the person you are dating - don't worry! There are six billion people in the world now. You have lots of options! Maybe you can't find the right person because you aren't the right person! You may have to work on your attitude in order to be more attractive.

If you don't like being alone, perhaps it is because you do not enjoy your own company. Develop some hobbies. Decide that you are going to learn to be your own best friend.

You see, there are two choices in life. You can complain or you can do something to change what you don't like. All you have to remember is that you can't change other people so the only one you have to work with is you.

Go ahead - reinvent yourself! I dare you to change what you've been complaining about.
