Over the past few weeks there has been a great deal of excitement and all eyes have been on Britain as people around the world have waited for Catherine Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, better known as "Kate" to give birth to her first child.

The media has been camped outside the doors of the hospital where the child was born for weeks. Millions of people all around the world have waited in anticipation not just for the birth but also for the name of the boy who will one day rule over several countries and influence others.

Prince George is third in line for the throne behind his father and grandfather but there isn't any sign that his great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II is going to end her rule in the near future despite the fact that she is now eighty-seven years old. So, it might be several decades until the new baby actually is King, and we will then be able to witness how he will rule.

In the meantime, it will be up to his parents and grandparents to help him to mature and become wise. They will need to be careful to instill good values in the young boy's heart.

Some have stated "It's just a baby" or "It's not that big a deal" or "I don't know what all the fuss is about" but they don't seem to understand that we are witnessing history in the making.

The whole situation kind of reminds me of when another baby was born over two thousand years ago. People watched with anticipation for signs that a child would be born who would one day be a ruler. Just like Kate's son, they hoped the child would bring positive change that would benefit a hurting world.

But that child was not born into wealth and privilege. He was instead born in a stable to a young girl who was not even married. There wasn't any media there to broadcast the news of his birth worldwide or to instantly show pictures of him with his parents. He didn't have bodyguards to protect him or his choice of universities to educate him.

What the two babies have in common however, is that in their roles as rulers, they have opportunities to inspire others, exercise influence, serve as role-models and provide hope to all who are eager to embrace it.

Right now, we see a baby and some wonder what all the fuss is about. Two thousand years ago, some people saw a baby and wondered what all the fuss was about.

Those who are wise, however, realize that these were not just babies. Each of them was born to be King and given specific tasks to perform. Even though we don't know exactly what will happen in the decades to come, we each have the opportunity and privilege of seeing history in the making. Whether you realize it right now or not, Prince George will affect you and your family in the years to come.
